The Gift

By Sarah Petty L. Ac., Dipl. Ac. on February 16th, 2012

My favorite thing in the treatment room is the look on a person’s face when they start to realize that they are in fact brilliant, capable, powerful, and lovable beyond what they had originally thought. If I am selling anything, I hope it is the shattering of illusions one might have about themselves. Some call me a cheerleader in the treatment room-and although I’ve traded in my pom poms for needles, I think the spirit is still the same. Every needle a nudge of encouragement.

How did the rose ever open its heart
And give to the world all its beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light
Against its being,
Otherwise we all remain too
